For your convenience, signing up for a PayPal account is not necessary for making one-time payments through American Express/Discover, but may be necessary for setting up automated recurring subscriptions, which is similar to the direct credit card gateway we provide for Visa/MasterCard. PayPal is a safe, secure alternative to storing your credit card information online as well, since nothing gets stored on our system when using PayPal.
